The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez has signed a blind script deal with ABC Studios, according to Deadline.com. The script will be used for an upcoming comedy that Lopez will co-write with his brother Billy. No word yet on the premise of the new TV show.
The Lopez brothers previous small screen experience includes composing music for the Nickelodeon show The Wonder Pets, for which they won two Emmy Awards. Robert Lopez also helped pen a 2011 episode of South Park, the show created and produced by his Mormon collaborators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. He also received an Emmy nomination for his original songs featured on the “My Musical” episode of Scrubs.
Robert Lopez received three Tony Awards for the scores of The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q, in addition to an award for Mormon's book.
